Making money as a writer is all about accessing your target reader and letting them know what you have to offer. Even though young adult books are enjoying a huge surge in popularity at all ages, it’s a tough market to access. Teens don’t read blogs even though they may have their own. They go to bookstores to get books their friends recommend, not to browse for new titles. Teens don’t read Amazon reviews or Goodreads, even though I do have one or two sixth grade students on Goodreads. Teens don’t come to author signings of local authors, nor do they go to author’s websites. Do any of you think teens will be more into blogs, websites, and reviews in the future?
